Close the Gap
When we have a clear vision for what we want to accomplish, we suddenly become aware of the gap or discrepancy between where we are (current reality), and where we want to be (vision). This discrepancy can feel uncomfortable or frustrating. It is filled with tension. And there are only two ways to resolve it. You either give up on the idea or you bring it into being. This guy is patiently closing the gap between his current state and his envisioned future. He seems to be happy about it - probably because as he moves closer to his intended destination, the gap gets smaller, and the tension is partially resolved. In creative leadership, there is no substitute for hard, sustained, prioritized work in closing the gap. This work includes developing resources, acting despite uncertainty, testing with prototypes, and calibrating constantly.
